People
advised against
installing their own
stair
lift.
Householders
have been told that it's
a bad idea to intall a
stair lift themselves
and that they should get
a professional to do the
job.
The
message comes from the
Accessibility Equipment
Manufacturers
Association
The
AEMA says that consumers
should only buy new and
used machines from
reputable dealers who
will both supply and
install them.
Otherwise
people cannot be certain
their stair lift has
been put in safely and
to proper standards, the
association
claims.
It
says that although there
may be a cost benefit to
people who install their
own lift, they are
better protected via
warranties and are more
likely to meet legal
requirements when a
trained installer has
put their lift in
properly.
